What people see before tapping more
Three things I wish I knew before starting. Save this for later.
Characters: 64 / 2200
Hashtags: 0 / 30

Only the first 125 characters show before 'more'.About the caption length checker
The character limit is rarely the number that matters. What matters is the truncation point: Instagram cuts at roughly 125 characters and LinkedIn at about 210, and everything past that is only read by people who tap more.
This shows both, plus a preview of exactly what appears before the cut.
How to use it
- 1Pick the platform and paste your caption.
- 2Watch the character count against the limit.
- 3Check the hashtag count against the platform cap.
- 4Read the truncation preview to see what is visible before the fold.
Questions
What is the truncation point?
Where the platform cuts the caption and shows a more link. Instagram is around 125 characters, LinkedIn around 210. Your hook must land before it.
Do hashtags count toward the limit?
Yes, on every platform. Thirty hashtags can consume a meaningful share of your available characters.
Is a longer caption better?
Only if it earns the length. Long captions can drive dwell time, but only when the opening lines make someone want to keep reading.
